Introduction

Syncretic

A native Mac app for building visual knowledge graphs of your own ideas, and asking them questions in plain English. Everything lives on your Mac.

Syncretic is organised around three things you do with a project, in this order:

  1. Shape it. Decide what kinds of things the graph holds (node types), what each kind knows about itself (properties), and how kinds connect (relationship types). The shape is a schema you draw on a canvas.
  2. Build the graph in that shape. Add nodes and relationships by hand on the canvas, by form, or by asking Claude or ChatGPT to read an article, a PDF, a photo of notes, or a description, and draft them for you to review.
  3. Ask it. Type a question in English and the AI turns it into a Cypher query that runs locally; or search the text by meaning with an embedding model that runs on your Mac; or search names and text directly; or write the Cypher yourself.

Around those three sit a table of every node, Arrange, which lays the canvas out by values instead of connections, Notes that can point at nodes in the graph, an MCP server that lets Claude, Claude Code or Codex work in your project, and sharing of a read-only copy on the web.

Try the canvas now

This is the graph canvas as it works in the app, running here in your browser. It’s the app’s own web viewer: the same database engine (LadybugDB, compiled to WebAssembly), the same explore model, the same theme. It’s read-only, as the web viewer is; building and asking happen in the app.

Loading the graph…
Click a type in the left panel to put its nodes on the canvas. Click a node to bring in what it's connected to; click it again for more. Hover for a card. ⌘F searches; ⌘T shows the table; Shape at the top shows the schema.

Where a page in these docs can show you the real thing, it does, with this viewer. Where a feature exists only in the Mac app (Shape editing, Build, Notes, Arrange, Settings, vector search), the page uses recordings and screenshots from the app, and says so.
