Arrange around a node
Right-click a node › Arrange Around › Rows, Rings, Spiral or Stacks. The canvas keeps only that node and what’s connected to it, directly or through other nodes on the canvas, and sorts by Steps from “X”: the node itself (Start), then everything one step away, then two…
- In Rings the node is in the middle, its neighbours on the first ring, theirs on the second, and so on: the graph as it radiates from one point.
- In Rows and Stacks the steps run along the ruler: a column per distance.
- In a Spiral the node is at the centre and the rest wind out in order of distance.
Sorted another way afterwards (by Year, say), the node stays in the centre of Rings and the Spiral; the filter “Connected to “X”” stays on. Steps are counted along the canvas’s connections either way, so expanding a node adds to the picture.
The menu shows which form is on with a tick; Free Layout in the same submenu, or Arrange’s Free layout, puts everything back and shows everything again.
