Adding by form
Press ⌥⌘N, choose File › New Node or Relationship…, or open the edit panel with the gold ± button (⌘N) and switch its header pill to By hand. The panel replaces the inspector on the right and stays open for the next one.
The By hand side has two tabs at its top: Add (this form) and Remove (the removal draft).
Node
A pill at the top switches between Node and Relationship.
- Type chips: pick the node type.
- Its title field (focused), or an enum picker.
- Every other property, with the same editors as the inspector: a text field (multi-line for long text), a number field, a link field, a boolean switch, enum chips.
- Add node (Return; ⌘Return while writing long text).
The node is added, put on the canvas, and the form clears for the next. A line in the footer says Added “Gödel, Escher, Bach” · Open: click it to close the panel and show the node in the inspector.
Relationship
- Relationship chips: pick the type.
- from: a menu of every node of a type the relationship can start from, by title and type. If a node was selected on the canvas when the panel opened, it’s filled in.
- to: narrowed to nodes of the types the relationship can reach from the chosen from node.
- The relationship’s properties, its title first.
- Add relationship.
Both ends are brought onto the canvas; the to field clears for the next.
The form watches the shape: if a type or relationship is deleted meanwhile, the pick moves to the first one left. Only properties the chosen type actually has are written.
