The license

Without a license Syncretic is read-only: projects open, the canvas, search, table and notes all work, but the database refuses writes. That’s how a graph shared on the web opens on any Mac.

The License window

Syncretic › License…, the sidebar’s Reading only · Enter license row, or Settings › License › Enter License…. The window opens on its own at launch while there’s no license.

Unlicensed: “Without a license, Syncretic opens graphs read-only, such as ones shared on the web. Enter your license key to create and change graphs.” A field for the key (SYN1-…), Buy a license, and Activate (Return). A wrong key says so in red; a right one says so in green.

Licensed: “Licensed. Thank you for buying it.” with Licensed to, Issued, and License: Launch price or Standard. “Moving to another Mac? Remove it here, then enter the key there.” Remove from This Mac.

How it’s checked

The key is a token signed by the site at purchase; the app verifies the signature on this Mac and never sends it anywhere. The purchase page offers an Activate in Syncretic link (syncretic://activate?key=…) that does the typing for you.
